Rescue Eats was founded by eight college students with a vision: create a more affordable, accessible, and sustainable way to connect people with real food. Started at Chico State’s Center for Entrepreneurship, Rescue Eats has grown into a platform that supports natural food stores, local restaurants, and farms by helping them reach more customers and reduce food waste.Natural food stores use Rescue Eats to sell fresh items with short shelf lives. Farms share imperfect produce and freshly harvested goods that might otherwise go unsold. Restaurants offer discounted meals to increase foot traffic and help us complete the food circle—ensuring good food is shared, not wasted. Our ultimate goal? Complete the food circle—by making good food available to more people and donating meals to those in need.At Rescue Eats, we believe food should be shared, not wasted. And we’re here to make sure no meal gets left behind
Our Mission
Rescue Eats exists to make real food more accessible, affordable, and sustainable by connecting natural food stores, farms, and restaurants with people in their communities. We help natural food stores sell fresh items with short shelf lives, enable farms to share imperfect or unsold produce, and support restaurants in offering discounted meals that boost business. Through these partnerships, we’re working to complete the food circle—reducing waste, supporting local economies, and making sure no meal gets left behind
Our Vision
To build a world where good food is never wasted, and every meal serves a purpose. We envision thriving communities where natural food stores, farms, and restaurants work together to make fresh, healthy food available to everyone—regardless of income or circumstance. By closing the gap between food excess and food access, Rescue Eats aims to create a circular food system that nourishes people, strengthens local businesses, and protects the planet
